At Feathers Planning we love working on community based projects like this. Waiwhakareke is HCCs flagship bio-diversity project in an urban environment – a 65.4ha ecological restoration program that is a great asset to the city. Consent was needed for Hamilton City Council to construct the Park entry, carpark, covered walkway (linking to Hamilton Zoo) and lookout tower. Council approval was also required for the upgrades to the Zoo entry.
This cross-boundary project involved both Hamilton City and Waikato District Councils, with the Territorial Local Authority Boundary running down the middle of Brymer Road. We worked with an amazing team of talented architects, landscape architects, engineers and of course Hamilton City Council as our client.
